February is Black History Month. So of course our focus will be books written by African Americans. We decided to take it a step farther and spotlight books written for or by young adults. According to a Pew Research study, among students that were 13-year-olds, only 15% of African Americans said that they read everyday. Their counterparts Asians (28%) and White (20%) read on a daily basis. That same Pew Research study proved that students who read for fun scored better on standardized tests in 2020.
Take a look at these great reads that can ignite the love for reading in a young adult in your life or even yourself. (Links are connected to websites where books can be purchased)
