Get To Know Author Tammy Jernigan-Carter
I fell in love in real life and put it in a fictional setting. The message I hope readers take away is that healing is rarely a straight path. It requires grace, forgiveness, and the willingness to believe that joy is still possible after loss. Whether the hurt comes from grief, betrayal, or disappointment, there is always hope for a new beginning. Sometimes the greatest medicine isn’t found in a prescription or a procedure, but in genuine love, community, and the courage to let someone see. Love is the Cure!
Can you tell us about your main character (or favorite character) and what makes them special to you?
The main character is Lailah Austin, an emergency room nurse who is strong, compassionate, and resilient, but she’s carrying the pain of heartbreak. What makes her special to me is that she’s relatable. She reminds us that even the strongest people need healing. Through her journey, I hope readers see that it’s never too late to trust, love again, and believe that love truly is the cure.
What was the most rewarding—and the most challenging—part of writing this book?
The most rewarding part of writing this book was watching my characters grow from broken, guarded people into individuals who found healing, hope, and love. Seeing their journey unfold reminded me that second chances are possible.
The most rewarding part of writing this book was watching my characters grow from broken, guarded people into individuals who found healing, hope, and love. Seeing their journey unfold reminded me that second chances are possible.
The most challenging part was balancing the emotional depth with an authentic medical setting while creating a romance that felt real, earned, and relatable.
If readers could remember just one thing after finishing your book, what would you want it to be?
I hope readers remember that healing is possible and that love is worth the risk. No matter what you’ve experienced—grief, betrayal, or disappointment—your past doesn’t have to define your future. Sometimes, the greatest medicine isn’t found in a prescription; it’s found in genuine love, faith, and the courage to let someone truly see you. Because, in the end, love is the cure.

What's next for you? Are you currently working on another book or exciting project that readers can look forward to?
I’m excited about what’s next! Right now, I’m working on Good Medicine, the second novel in my Love Cures series. It follows Susan Whitfield and Dr. Enrique Baptiste as they navigate grief, healing, hospital politics, and the possibility of finding love again. Readers can expect the same heartfelt romance, unforgettable characters, and the reminder that love has the power to heal.
I’m also continuing to grow my publishing company, Dreams to Draft Media, where I help aspiring authors turn their stories into professionally published books.

Book Spotlight:
At Savannah Regional Medical Center, trauma nurse Lailah Austin has built her life around control. In the ER, emotions get people hurt, distractions get people killed, and love is a risk she refuses to take.

Brilliant, guarded, and carrying the weight of a career-threatening mistake, Marcus was supposed to be a temporary assignment—not the man capable of unraveling every defense Lailah has spent years building.
