Lakendrick Lasha Northern is a 44-year-old author originally from Blytheville, Arkansas. Raised between Blytheville and Montgomery, Alabama, he experienced life in both communities while his father served in the United States Air Force. Alongside his mother and two brothers, he eventually called Montgomery home, where he attended Carver Senior and Junior High School before graduating from Southwest High School in Fort Worth, Texas, as a member of the Class of 1997.
A passionate storyteller, Lakendrick is continually refining his craft as he completes several novels while expanding into the world of screenwriting. His lifelong dream is to see his stories adapted for the big screen, transforming compelling narratives into unforgettable cinematic experiences.
Driven by determination, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to success, Lakendrick is focused on building a lasting legacy in the literary world. What inspired you to write this book, and what message do you hope readers take away from it?
I was inspired by the art of having a true imagination to real life experiences, embracing a page written through mental ink. Therefore, my objective is to have my readers become lost off in the pages that will relate to their own lives and encourage them to know that growth is a form of healing.
Can you tell us about your main character (or favorite character) and what makes them special to you?
Kendrick Ross was a man riding on life's rollercoaster mixed within an emotional blender that becomes the triumph that'll hopefully inspire black men that it's OK to love your woman, be a great father to your children, and have a sense of direction in your life. His inspiration to me was the change and growth from his past that built strength and endurance to become the man he was.
What was the most rewarding—and the most challenging—part of writing this book?
Most rewarding to me in this book was completing a vision inspired by reality that could encourage others to know that life's curveballs are not just strikes and fouls but also a focal determination to hit a grand slam and be a winner.
If readers could remember just one thing after finishing your book, what would you want it to be?
Resilience in any and all circumstances, and that love is a complicated beast that can be tamed with inner guidance of self-reflection.
What's next for you? Are you currently working on another book or exciting project that readers can look forward to?
To continue to write what my heart guides me that readers can relate to. I am currently working on script writing development and a collection of different genres, such as an espionage adventure from an African American viewpoint.
