Leah Thomas is an independent fantasy author from Chicago, Illinois, and the creator of Athena, a psychological dark fantasy novel inspired by Black history, mythology, and strength.
Her writing journey began in 2019 with a vision to create stronger representations of Black heroes, powerful warrior women, and thriving civilizations beyond the familiar narratives of slavery and violence.
The tragic death of George Floyd and the events that followed in 2020 further fueled Leah’s passion for storytelling. While many took to the streets to protest, she chose to protest through her words, using storytelling to celebrate Black excellence, strength, love, and resilience.
Through Athena, Leah hopes to inspire readers to explore history, embrace their imaginations, and remember that heroes can look like them, too.
