Voices With Reading: Josias Jean-Pierre

Meet Josias Jean-Pierre

Dr. Josias Jean-Pierre is a globally recognized motivational speaker, best-selling author, and execution coach whose life and work exemplify the power of "radical resilience". Born in Haiti and raised in SeaTac, Washington, Dr. Jean-Pierre has transitioned from a childhood marked by significant medical and educational hurdles to becoming a prominent voice for the marginalized, earning international acclaim for his ability to turn personal "messes into messages”

Dr. Jean-Pierre’s journey began in the Caribbean, where he was born before immigrating to the United States as a young child. His early years in the Pacific Northwest were defined by a series of daunting challenges: he was diagnosed with epilepsy, a stutter, and a learning disability that saw him placed in special education classes. Educators often told him to "temper his dreams" or that he would never amount to anything.

Rather than succumbing to these labels, Dr. Jean-Pierre captured a vision at age 13 of himself impacting lives on a national and international stage. By age 17, he was already speaking in public, beginning a career that would eventually span over 13 years of transformative work across schools, colleges, and corporate environments.

Dr. Jean-Pierre is a proud alumnus of Highline College, where he graduated in 2013 with an Associate’s degree in Communication. During his time at Highline, he served as a student ambassador, traveling across King County to share his story and advocate for youth of color. His continued involvement with the college, particularly through the annual Black and Brown Male Summit, led to his selection as the 2023 Distinguished Alumnus. His academic and professional contributions further earned him an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Philosophy from the Trinity International University of Ambassadors (TIUA).

Beyond the stage, Dr. Jean-Pierre is the founder of JP Credit Solutions, where he serves as a board-certified credit consultant. His background includes professional experience in portfolio management at Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU), which informed his "practical crusade" for credit literacy. He teaches families and entrepreneurs that financial information is the key to unlocking choices and breaking generational cycles of poverty.

Dr. Jean-Pierre's influence has been validated by prestigious honors from around the world. His accolades include:
  • Three Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards (including 2024 and 2025 honors) for his service to the community.
  • Top 10 Most Inspirational African Americans of 2021 by Yahoo Finance, alongside figures like Ice Cube.
  • Business Elite 40 Under 40 and Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40.
  • Nelson Mandela Award (UK) and recognition as one of South Africa's 100 Iconic Personalities of the Year.
  • Top Author to Watch in 2024 by Forbes

What inspired you to write?
What inspired me to write started off with a vision at 13 years old. At 13 I saw books being manifested and impact taking place nationally and internationally with the books that I wrote. I just firmly believed that God was showing me my vision and I ran with it. Because I saw it before I actually saw it, I was inspired and motivated to make it come true. And 20 years later, this impact has made impact nationally and internationally.

Did you choose traditional, indie, or hybrid publishing? Why?
I chose independent publishing just because I wanted to own my rights to my work and wanted to control where the book go and landed.

Where do your story ideas usually come from?
My ideas come from life inspiration. I am a self help/non fiction author.

I relate to self the most

Which of your books is your favorite and why?
What is your why behind your drive because it goes into depth of purpose understanding purpose, understanding the setbacks are not a disciplinary act it’s preparedness for elevation and next level. Talks about the importance to why you need to change the mindset to have a why that is bigger than the excuses. If excuses are In the driver seat, you can’t execute.

Why did you choose to write in your current genre?
The vision that God showed me of impact and turning pain into purpose, I’m a testament of that and I want to help others to have a story of triumph which means helping them to obtain the tools they need to be triumphant.

What would you like to say to your readers?
You’re born on purpose, for a purpose, and with a purpose. If you’re still breathing it’s because there’s more in you. Every breath you take is not an accident, it all has purpose. When you breath in that’s purpose and when you breath out that is potential. You have the potential to be whomever you want to be and be whom God created you to be.

Featured Book:
This book is about understanding the power of purpose.

Not the vague, motivational kind, but the kind of purpose that holds you steady when things fall apart. The kind that keeps you moving when doors stay closed, timelines stretch, and doubt creeps in.

Inside these pages, you’ll learn how to uncover a why that’s personal, honest, and strong enough to carry you through every “no,” every delay, and every storm. A why that isn’t borrowed from expectations or polished for approval, but rooted in what truly matters to you.

Because when your purpose is real, it changes how you endure setbacks. It reframes failure. It gives meaning to the waiting. And it reminds you why you started when quitting feels easier.

As the saying goes, “If your why doesn’t make you cry, it’s not big enough.”
This book helps you find that why—and live from it.
