When did you start writing?
According to my mother, I started writing ‘stories’ when I was 6 or 7. I used to lie to her profusely, and after a butt-whooping, I had to write my lies down. Afterwards, I would have to come back and read the lie back to her. I didn’t realize then how much I wrote, but I received another setback for the severity (weight) of the lie. I learned two things. One: stop lying because it hurts. Two: The bigger the lie, the better the story. At twelve, I saw a Fabio book cover in a library, and I knew I wanted to write romance. Even though I didn’t understand that human emotion at my young age, I just knew I wanted to write heartstopping HEAs. Living in Detroit, I couldn’t stop myself from inserting some type of suspense, intrigue, or thriller in there as well. Now here I am, over 60 books later, living my dream of being a dark romance-suspense author.

In your opinion, what are the most important elements of good writing?
Keeping your promise to the reader, don’t dumb down your reader, challenging yourself as a writer, and writing the best story to the best of your ability.

Describe your writing space.
I have two of them. The couch in my living room, where I can play my music and watch tv while I write. It’s wild, chaotic, and open, so I can really get a first draft on paper. Then, when I’m ready to edit, I go into my cave (my junkie crowded office) where I can stay focused and bring the story to life.

What is the most challenging part of writing for you?
Time. Sitting down and writing when you have to do all the other things to stay alive: eating, sleeping, exercising, et cetera.

How do you handle literary criticism?
I choose to receive it, raise myself above, and identify what I can learn from it while letting the other material drop away.

Who is your favorite author and why?
I’m a reading nut, and I’ve been reading since I was four to five years old. It’s difficult to choose because I’m prone to even re-read books I loved as a ten-year-old. I love a good story that makes me think, challenges me, and empowers me, as a writer, to create better stories for my readers.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
Listening to one song: You are the reason with my YouTube playlist, and if I have a love scene, I’ll find a janky horror movie with a lot of screaming and chaos. Makes me feel the tension and produce better sensual scenes. #nojudgementzone

What would you like to say to your readers?
Thank you for your support of my work over the years. I’m appreciative of the readers who’ve stood by me in the good and bad times and still hang on for my next book. I have more to come, so please continue to follow me and catch up. You are loved.
