Voices with Reading: Melissa Cobb

Meet Melissa Cobb

Tell us about yourself.
I’m Melissa Cobb, a novelist specializing in morally driven fiction if the everyday person. My writing centers on character-based narratives that explore ethical dilemmas, human connection, choices, and redemption. My featured work, From the Love of a Man, exemplifies my focus on stories that resonate emotionally while offering lasting moral insight.

Tell us about your featured book.
For the Love of a Man is a powerful story about love that demands sacrifice. When the heart is involved, every choice carries weight—challenging faith, loyalty, and personal boundaries. Blending faith-based themes with psychological twists, the novel explores how far one is willing to go for love, and what that devotion ultimately costs.

When did you start writing?
Writing chosen me about 13 years ago.

In your opinion, what are the most important elements of good writing?
Fully expressing what the reader needs to see, taste, understand, and touch.

Describe your writing space.
Just me, my computer, and an open mind. No coffee, no soda, no anything.

What is the most challenging part of writing for you?
When I am on a roll, and I constantly have to stop and run errands, or become bothered and distracted from my work at hand.

How do you handle literary criticism?
I take criticism brick by brick. I analyze what’s being said, understanding that it’s an opinion shaped by perspective. Then I return to my work and allow what’s useful to make me a better writer, without losing my voice.

Who is your favorite author and why?
I’m drawn to Danielle Steel because of the way she explores human emotion and resilience. Her stories focus on love, sacrifice, and the strength people find in difficult circumstances—themes that deeply resonate with me as a writer.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
When I’m not writing, I’m drawn to sermons that encourage reflection, growth, and a deeper commitment to serving God more fully.

What would you like to say to your readers?
No matter what you face, keep writing and keep pushing forward. Trust the journey God has placed in you. Perseverance and faith will carry you where you’re meant to go.

Now the survival instincts of fight or flight has kicked in for her to stay alive but how can she if she is playing with her heart and now her mind.
