Meet Author Syndia A. Payne

Syndia A. Payne is a Jamaican educator and writer whose work is rooted in the power of voice, advocacy and lived experience. Her work also reflects deep respect for her Caribbean culture in the forms of storytelling, ancestral teachings and dual identity. These elements are embedded in her previous works Ramblings, How Do We Keep Living and The Servant Queen – Tribute to Jamaica’s First Female Prime Minister – Portia Simpson Miller, just to name a few. Her collection of poems, Payne Anthology showcases and embodies the versatility of her writing style. Her latest publication, How I Became a Cowgirl: One Woman’s Journey with Rare Migraine Disease, a deeply personal chronicle of her over two decades old journey with complicated and rare migraine disease. She transforms her own suffering and resilience into a narrative of survival and grace. Through this memoir, she advocates and speaks for those who are silently struggling with rare, chronic diseases.
