What inspired you to write this book, and what message do you hope readers take away from it?
I’ve always been drawn to stories that explore the messy side of love, the choices we make, the people we become, and the consequences that follow. I wanted to create characters who feel real, flawed, and impossible to forget. My hope is that readers walk away understanding that love isn’t always black and white. Sometimes healing requires difficult decisions, and choosing yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.Can you tell us about your main character (or favorite character) and what makes them special to you?
One of my favorite characters is Huey Porter. On the surface, he’s confident, successful, and protective, but underneath all of that is a man who’s loved the same woman for years. He’s patient without being passive and strong without losing his softness. I love writing characters who remind readers that masculinity can be gentle, emotional, and deeply loyal. Huey represents that for me.
What was the most rewarding—and the most challenging—part of writing this book?
The most rewarding part was watching my characters grow beyond what I originally planned. Sometimes they’d surprise me, and those moments became some of my favorite scenes.
The biggest challenge was balancing the emotional weight of the story. I wanted every decision, every conversation, and every heartbreak to feel authentic without overwhelming the reader. Finding that balance took time, but it made the story stronger.

I want readers to remember how the story made them feel. If my characters stay with you long after you’ve closed the book, if you’re still thinking about their choices, rooting for them, or questioning what you would’ve done in their place, then I’ve done my job.

I’m expanding both my contemporary romance world and stepping into paranormal romance with my new series, The Clouded Heart Series, set in the magical town of Sunhaven.
