Hilton C. Young, Sr., known on stage and in ministry as GFSoldier (God-Fearing Soldier), is an internationally recognized poet, spoken word artist, author, keynote speaker, and workshop facilitator with over 25 years of experience using his gift to inspire, uplift, and transform. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and now based in Dallas, Texas, GFSoldier's mission is clear: to spread the Gospel across the globe through the power of spoken word poetry.Hilton C. With a passionate delivery that blends emotional depth, intellectual power, and spiritual truth, GFSoldier has captivated audiences both nationally and internationally. His ministry has taken him to Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana (West Africa), Toronto and Mississauga (Canada), and Kingston, Jamaica, with a return to Trinidad and Tobago in 2024. He has graced stages alongside respected artists and leaders such as Dee-1, Jonathan Taylor, Jackie Hill Perry, Preston Perry, Vashawn Mitchell, Tamela Mann, BeBe Winans, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Kierra Sheard, Tye Tribbett, and 

Lisa Mclendon, among many others.

He has also shared platforms with legends in the arts including Sunni Patterson, Black Ice, Malcolm Jamal-Warner, Irma P. Hall, Darrin Henson, and Erykah Badu. Whether ministering in a sanctuary, performing on stage, or facilitating workshops, his message is rooted in truth, hope, and healing.

A firm believer in holistic transformation, Hilton also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. He is a Qualified Mental Health Professional and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Through performances, speaking engagements, and creative workshops, GFSoldier continues to ignite minds, stir hearts, and move souls—with every word grounded in purpose, every poem rooted in faith, and every moment a ministry.

Get To Know Author Hilton Young:

What inspired you to write this book, and what message do you hope readers take away from it?

    My book is an autobiographical attempt to take a journey through my life as a poor student all throughout elementary, high school, and college, the passing of my grandmother and drawing inspiration from that experience to start writing poetry as a way to grieve the loss, the unique story of my children, putting out two poetry albums and a dvd, going back to school and achieving academic success, working in the mental health field, and a host of other things that I have achieved as a result of throwing myself into the gift. I thought it was time to inspire others to find out what their natural God given gifts and talents are and begin to flow in that gift in order to discover who they really are and God's purpose for their lives. 

Can you tell us about your main character (or favorite character) and what makes them special to you?  
    This is primarily an autobiographical book. The persistence, and perseverance makes it special. Despite all the trials and setbacks, the effort to still find ways to achieve, local, national, and international recognition is amazing. This book is highly inspired by my children who are briefly mentioned in this book due the unique and often criticized manner in which they were conceived.  

What was the most rewarding—and the most challenging—part of writing this book?
    The most rewarding part of writing this book is the therapeutic draw that comes from it. It's cathartic! The most challenging is reliving some of the traumatic moments (Grandmother's Passing, Hurricane Katrina) in my life which also serve as an inspiration to be successful and write the book. 

If readers could remember just one thing after finishing your book, what would you want it to be?

    Do not neglect your gift!

What's next for you? Are you currently working on another book or exciting project that readers can look forward to?
    I am currently working on my next book and I'm planning to publish it in Late August or early September.
